Thanksgiving
posted by brandi1849 4 years ago

I recently was put on a gluten free diet after my doctor tested me and I have been doing well planning my meals so far. This will be my first thanksgiving that I am on this diet and I will not be at my own house. Anyone have suggestions on what I can eat or should avoid while I am eating this year. Thanks!

It's always tough to eat at someone's house that has no idea how to prepare gluten free meals. The safest thing to do is to bring foods with you and volunteer to help out in the kitchen. That way you can actually assist in keeping the foods that are naturally gf free from cross-contamination. It's also important to plate your foods BEFORE everyone else to avoid contamination. The last thing I suggest is to maybe let your host know that we have plenty of gf Thanksgiving recipes on our website if he/she needs some help.

Avoid the gravy, the stuffing, and any veggies that have sauces or cream soups in them. You should be fine with the turkey and mashed potatoes(if they are real). I'd suggest you take a veggie dish to apss that you know you can eat, ie. sweet potato spears, corn with peppers, cauliflower with cheese, etc.
