gluten free diets in hospitals
posted by myrna greene 3 years ago

Last year i was hospitalized for 10 days following a fall. The dietitian did not have a clue as to what Celiac Disease was. I told her that i found it hard to believe that i was the only patient in this huge major city hospital that required a gluten free diet. I think that we need to upgrade Celiac Disease Awareness. Any comments?

I'm really surprised. I was in the hospital over the summer and not only did they understand the gluten free diet, but had a few different gluten free breads. The dietician also called me to go over my options. I would contact the hospital administrator and tell them that their dietician needs some serious refresher courses.
